David McDonald was born and raised on a farm in northeast Iowa. He got a bachelor’s degree in animal science from the University of Iowa State together with the Wallace E. Barron award for being an outstanding senior. After graduation, David McDonald started career at OSI industries and worked his way up the ladder to become chief operating officer and president of OSI group. David McDonald has been with the OSI group for over three decades now.
To ensure sustainability at OSI industries, David McDonald came up with a plan for the 2016/2017 year. The plan ensured that OSI industries produced high-quality food safe for human consumption and in accordance with animal welfare rules. OSI Industries also has to be socially responsible and ensure sustainability of its supply chain. David also outlines that the OSI Industries has to play a part in the conservation of the environment.
In regards to the acquisition of Dutch convenience foods manufacturer, Baho Foods, David McDonald said that the acquisition gave OSI group a wider presence in Europe. David also added that Baho Foods complimented OSI industries. This would go a long way in broadening both brands’ product portfolio and aid in serving their clients’ ever-growing needs. The merger will also see both companies benefit from each other’s strengths.
At OSI industries, David has seen the organizations grow and venture into new markets like China. David credits the organization’s success to business culture. According to David, OSI group sees both clients and staff as family and they aspire to proudly produce food for their families. OSI group also allows for their customers to be innovative in which products they want. Accompanied by global resources, facilities, and unique cost-effective strategies, OSI has helped improve their clients’ menus.
David McDonald also aspires to aid OSI group in following its past path. David sees the continued sustainable growth of OSI industries in the future while also keeping the company’s culture of providing quality products to its clientele. After more than three decades at OSI group, David is still passionate about his job because the clients” needs keep changing and it keeps the work exciting. David is also excited about the interaction between client and staff.
